PV girls basketball advances to Folsom tournament championship | Local roundup

The Pleasant Valley girls basketball advanced to the championship game of the Folsom tournament with a win Friday night against Ponderosa.

The Vikings (6-4) defeated the Bruins 74-19. PV jumped out to an early 25-2 lead after the first quarter and never let go of its lead.

AJ Gambol led PV in scoring with 18, Maddux Wilson scored 15 points, Kabrey Cooper scored 10 points and Mariah Letcher scored nine points.

After the Folsom tournament championship game PV will travel north to play in the Red Bluff tournament beginning Thursday.

Prep girls soccer

Pleasant Valley at Foothill tournament: The Pleasant Valley girls soccer team defeated West Valley 9-0 on Friday, before later winning its second game of the day 10-0 against Foothill.

Pleasant Valley goalkeeper Ella Riccomini recorded four saves between the two matches in back-to-back shutouts.

Pleasant Valley (2-2) plays next at at 6 p.m. Monday against University Prep.
