The Butte Creek Women’s Golf Club held its annual end-of-the-year Christmas giving and awards luncheon last week. Tami Blofsky was honored as being the 2021 Most Improved Golfer. Blofsky dropped her handicap nearly eight strokes from 47.3 to 39.2. Blofsky attributes her achievement through a lot of hard work, dedication, and great lessons. Playing 131 rounds during the year helped a lot as well.
Other members recognized for their achievements at the luncheon were the winners of the Medallion Day tournaments. Irma Jenkins was the two-day winner in the first flight with a net score of 140. Darlene Thomasson was the winner in the second flight with a score of 151. Most birdies: 1, Debbie Maderos, 14; 2, Pat Stephenson, 11; 3, Vicki Ellcessor, 8; 4. Susan Martellaro, 5, Jeanie Lowe, 6. Captain Sandy Fortino chose The Chico Posse as the recipient of the BCCC Women’s Club donation of $1000. The Chico Posse is a diverse group of women whose mission it is to make a difference in the Chico community. They connect people in need with people who can and want to help. They never give a handout … They only give a hand up!
In addition, she chose Catalyst Domestic Violence Services as the recipient of the many toys and gifts donated by the BCCC Women’s Club members.
The next day the club held its weekly tournament. Players could use only four clubs and their putter. The game was total putts. Debbie Maderos was overall low gross with a score of 86. First flight net: 1, Sherri Kimmelshue, 29 putts; 2, Jeannie Stone, 30 putts; 3, tie, Sandy Fortino and Valerie Gregory, 32 putts. The Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf club played a game called “Even Holes,” counting the even-numbered holes and subtracting one-half a player’s handicap. First flight low gross: Sally Pearson, 89. Charlie Boales eagled the par 4, 13th hole at Canyon Oaks recently. Boales hit a 125-yard, 9-iron into the cup for a two on his score card as witnessed by his playing companion, Tom Aldridge.
