“Let Axiom entertain you with “The Mother of all Musicals.” After an impressive “Overture” Gypsy opens at a vaudeville theatre in Seattle. A voice from offstage yells “Sing out, Louise!”, and Rose Hovick, the girl’s overbearing stage mother enters. It is clear that she is pushing the girls to succeed. Gypsy has been referred to as the greatest American musical by numerous critics and writers Theater critic Clive Barnes wrote that “Gypsy is one of the best of musicals…” and described Rose as “one of the few truly complex characters in the American musical.”
