OVERVIEW

The best businesses begin as a solution to a problem. The Entrepreneur Challenge is designed to help you turn your solution to a pressing problem into what may become your own business. The top winners of each track will go on to compete in the Future Four—the final round at Sacramento State on Friday, April 5th for a chance to win up to $5,000. Transportation and lodging expenses will be covered by the Center for Entrepreneurship.

Investment Track

Ventures with economic returns that drive substantial market value.

· First Prize … $1,000

Social Enterprise Track

Ventures that drive social change using nonprofit, for-profit, or hybrid models.

· First Prize … $1,000

Second Place Overall

Awarded to a venture in either track

· Cash Prize … $500

Straus Innovation Award

Awarded to the venture (either track) with the most innovative solution to a problem.

· Cash Prize … $250

ELIGIBILITY

Teams should be comprised of one to four members, at least one pursuing a degree, either part-time (minimum of 6 credit hours) or full time (minimum of 12 credit hours) for one semester of the academic year (undergraduate or graduate-level). If the CEO is not a student, then 50% of the remaining executive positions must be held by students.
